Our client is a high-growth Fintech Infrastructure Provider and Institutional Crypto Brokerage dedicated to bridging the gap between Traditional Finance (TradFi) and Digital Assets. They are currently evolving into a crypto-native neobank, providing institutional-grade custody and settlement solutions specifically designed for high-volume businesses in the iGaming, Forex, and Fintech sectors.

The firm is currently in a pivotal growth phase, undergoing a DLT license upgrade with the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) to enable seamless, large-scale crypto–fiat settlement for global institutions.

They are looking for a Risk Officer to and oversee the enterprise risk framework, ensuring the local Gibraltar entity aligns with both the internal global risk structure and the specific requirements of the GFSC DLT regulatory framework.

The company are offering a unique, phased entry designed for industry experts:

• Pre License: You will join as a Strategic Advisor/Consultant on a flexible basis (estimated 1–3 days per month). This phase focuses on governance setup and regulatory engagement during the DLT licensing process.

• Post-Licensing: Upon approval, the role is intended to transition into a more permanent structure, including part-time executive contracts, retainer-based leadership, or full-time board-level positions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain a robust enterprise risk management (ERM) framework tailored for crypto-fiat infrastructure.

• Oversee risks specific to digital assets, including crypto custody risk, wallet security protocols, and liquidity risk.

• Manage counterparty risk assessments

• Develop operational risk policies

• Act as a key point of contact for the GFSC regarding risk-related inquiries and regulatory reporting.

• Monitor market risk and exposure, providing regular reporting to the board and global leadership.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Head of Risk, Enterprise Risk Manager, or Market Risk Manager within a regulated financial institution.

• Prior experience in crypto trading venues, payment institutions, or fintech infrastructure companies is highly desirable.

• Practical understanding of DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) and the unique risk profiles associated with digital asset custody and settlement.

• Experience in developing risk frameworks from the ground up within early-stage or scaling regulated environments.

• Strong familiarity with the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) regulatory environment and expectations.

• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical risks into actionable governance policies.

• Prior status as a GFSC Approved Person is a significant advantage.

• Ability to operate independently during the initial advisory phase while building toward a long-term leadership role.

• Located in Gibraltar or willing to relocate.
